Danone Wexford Innovation Project results in Ground-Breaking Infant Formula Tablet

Malone O’Regan are proud to have been heavily involved in the delivery of a production facility for the first ever infant formula milk to be sold in a pre-measured tablet format in the UK. Having been involved from the outset of the innovation project in 2010 we acted as project managers, engineers, cost managers and PSDP for the construction of the pilot facility at that time through to delivery of the recently commissioned production space at the Wexford Plant. The production space required the construction of Low Care, Medium Care and High Care Areas with associated plant rooms, changing areas, and transfer zones within the existing manufacturing facility. The new tablet format will ensure parents have an accurate amount of formula when preparing a formula milk feed and will also help reduce mess and wasted formula. The tablets which are both compact and lightweight, are also easy to carry and store, and are being marketed in the UK under Danone’s Aptamil brand. Danone entered a manufacturing partnership with the Japanese food manufacturer, Meiji through which they have combined Danone’s formula milk recipes with Meiji’s patented tablet production technology in the hope of revolutionising the infant formula business in Europe.
