PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Following the purchase of Nutricia by Danone in 2007 a programme of major investment was undertaken at the Wexford site increasing the on-site blending and packing capacity fourfold between 2011 and 2017. This culminated in the construction of a state of the art 4th Blending and Packing facility to add to the 2nd and 3rd completed in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The 4th line consisted of the construction of approximately 6,000m² of space over four floors to accommodate production cleanrooms, plantroom/utilities areas and high care changing facilities.

PROJECT COMPLEXITIES

As with the previous two expansions the construction of this facility included challenges such as working on a live site, next to existing high care facilities with a number of critical utilities tie ins required to coincide with existing plant shutdown periods. This project had the added complexity of providing links back to existing high care production areas and coordination of these works with the various area owners required significant coordination between the Malone O’Regan Team and Danone Nutricia.
